Upon receiving a completed application and the required number of plans, a plans review will be conducted. This review shall determine whether the construction indicated and described is in accordance with the Uniform Construction Code and other pertinent laws. as part of the application process. An application will be approved or denied within fifteen (15) working days of submittal. If a permit is denied the denial shall be in writing from the Codes Administration listing the reason(s) for denial.
Upon approval the applicant will receive one copy of the Construction Drawings back. These drawings will be stamped as approved or a list of corrections will be issued with the plans. These plans must be on the job site at all times for review by the construction code official or his authorized representative.
The Building Code Official may issue a permit for the construction of any part of a building or structure before the construction documents for the whole building or structure have been submitted if the permit applicant filed adequate information and detailed statements complying with the Uniform Construction Code. A permit issued under this section is limited to this portion of the building or structure and does not constitute an assurance or waiver that a permit for the entire building or structure will be issued.
A permit shall become invalid unless the authorized construction work begins within 180 days of issuance, or if the authorized work is suspended or abandoned for 180 days after the work has begun. A permit applicant may submit a written request for an extension for just cause.
The permit shall be valid for I year from the start of work. An extension may be granted if the applicant applies for such extension. An extension shall not be valid until the extension fee has been paid.
A permit is not valid until the Department collects the required fees. A copy of liability and worker's compensation certificate of insurance or the appropriate waiver must be filed prior to issuance of a permit.
